How Good Ate Products From Wish App

Katy tests money-saving apps, tools, and websites to find ones that are legitimate, easy to use, and effective to share with readers.

Find out if Wish is for you.

Find out if Wish is for you.

What Is Wish?

Wish is an online shopping platform that allows users to buy directly from merchants. It is comparable to eBay or Amazon. The service is known for selling a wide range of merchandise, which can be seen in the rather eclectic advertisements seen on places like Facebook and Instagram. The service is famous for selling its products at unbelievably low prices. Where else can you find smartwatches for $10? Some items are even given out for free. The company has become a huge presence in the e-commerce industry since it was started in 2010. This article will answer some common questions about Wish and will give you an idea of what to expect from the service.

Wish is as legit as Amazon and eBay. The company is real (they are based in San Francisco) and there are real companies selling products on the platform.

The service features crazy low prices on fashion items, household goods, and gadgets. So what's the catch?

The catch is that shopping on Wish has some risks. The majority of the merchants on Wish are located in China. This means that a good portion of the merchandise being sold is counterfeit. So while the company may be legit, its merchandise may not be. The $30 iPhone you see on the app is almost certainly not manufactured by Apple. It's hard to know if the products are genuine until you order and receive them. Here are some tips to keep in mind before you shop on the site.

Knockoff items from China are also prevalent on sites like Amazon and eBay. However, you're not likely going to find major companies selling on Wish. This hasn't stopped the company from becoming the third-largest e-commerce marketplace in the US.

Why Are Items So Cheap?

Look at where the stuff on Wish comes from and you'll understand why the prices are so low. If you buy something on Wish, you are likely buying directly from a manufacturer in China.

Many vendors ship directly from China to Western countries like the US, UK, and Canada. Since Wish allows you to buy directly from a factory, there is no middleman. This means lower prices at the cost of less quality control. There's no middleman, no brick-and-mortar store, and no employees restocking shelves. The savings go directly to the customer.

China has a variety of policies and strategies that allows them to mass produce products at a cheap rate. In turn, this allows them to sell products at a low price. In addition, an agreement between China Post and the US Postal Service allows a special low rate for shipments on parcels weighing 4.4 pounds or less. These shipping rates are often cheaper than shipping between US states.

Recent trade disputes have threatened this agreement. The US currently has plans to gradually increase shipping rates from China. This may affect Wish in the future.

Are the Products Fake?

The website and the app are definitely real. You order something, pay with your credit card, and the items will be delivered (eventually). But are the products offered fakes?

Wish doesn't sell many brands that are available in the United States. You'll find knockoffs of common brands. The quality is definitely lower than items in other stores or shopping sites, but if you're willing to take the chance, Wish can be a great value. You can find inexpensive items that can work as intended.

Purchasing electronics from the site is hit or miss. Expect the audio quality from speakers or earbuds to be poor. USB or HDMI cables will work but they might not be as robust or last as long as their more expensive counterparts. A flash drive or storage device from Wish will also work as promised, which can be a great way to get cheap data storage. Bluetooth is also surprisingly reliable.

I recently received a pair of noise-canceling Bluetooth headphones from Wish. While the sound quality isn't spectacular, the Bluetooth always connects and it's great to have when traveling or going for walks. They are pretty good for $10.

However, you should think twice before buying anything that requires customer support, like a tablet or a smartwatch.

Is It Safe to Buy From Wish?

One of the biggest concerns some users have about Wish is that the site displays full user names on the profiles linked to wish lists. This means that your wish lists aren't private and any items you put on your lists show your real name.

In its privacy policy, the company says that they collect information about customers in two ways:

  • When customers sign up and purchase products, Wish asks for your name, email address, payment method information, shipping address, phone number, and social media account credentials.
  • Wish collects other data automatically, including your computer's IP address, location information (they say they ask for customer permission before obtaining specific GPS data), social network profile data, the browser you use, usage data (like where you click), and how much time you spend on pages.

With these things in mind, Wish appears to be as safe for personal data as any other shopping site. The company itself will not steal your information for nefarious purposes. You should keep in mind that all sites can potentially be hacked.

Don't expect fast deliveries from Wish.

Don't expect fast deliveries from Wish.

Here are some drawbacks to shopping on Wish.

Shipping Takes Forever

The number one complaint about shopping on Wish is that items can take several weeks to arrive. Some might show up within five to seven days, but other orders may take over a month to arrive. Some items can be delivered with WIsh Express, which delivers your purchase in five to seven days.

Inconsistent Clothing Sizes

Clothing sizes on Wish is a big issue. Asian and American sizing can be very different and this is made worse by the fact that most Chinese items do not carry a size label. Customers that shop for clothes on Wish are often left wondering whether the medium they ordered is really an extra small or just a factory mistake.

Poor Customer Service

The other downside of buying from a foreign factory is that their customer service support is not very strong. With a retailer between you and the factory, the customer service experience is a lot better because that retailer has a reputation to uphold. The foreign factory has less direct stakes in keeping you happy, so it's up to Wish to communicate between the customer and the factory. This can lead to a lot of frustration for customers.

Low Quality Control

The Wish platform merely hosts individual merchants and manufacturers; the company itself doesn't make any products. There is no real oversight for these vendors; they typically use the cheapest materials to make items that don't go through any type of quality assessment.

The deals you can find on Wish can save you a lot of money.

The deals you can find on Wish can save you a lot of money.

Here are some of the benefits of shopping on Wish.

Low Prices

This is the biggest claim to fame for the service. Wish prices simply can't be beat. If you are looking for a certain type of clothing or electronic device (and aren't particularly concerned about quality as long as it works), than Wish offers great choices for bargain hunters.

Wide Variety of Merchandise

The range of items for sale on Wish is comparable to what you can find on other major e-commerce sites. You can find clothes, gadgets, jewelry, and kitchenware on the service.

Easy-to-Use App

Wish has a mobile app that makes the shopping experience easy. It presents items in a feed that is reminiscent of Instagram. It has features like a wheel you can spin to get limited-time deals. The idea is to browse the app and see if anything catches your attention.

Here are some things to keep in mind when shopping on Wish. These tips will allow you to have the best experience with the platform.

Read Reviews Carefully

The best way to avoid being disappointed by products sold on Wish is to do your research before purchasing. Read through customer reviews. Look at photos that other customers have posted of the product they actually received. Users can also leave star ratings for merchants, but these aren't as useful as written descriptions and photos. Product descriptions and photos from the merchant may be deceitful. Find as much information as you can about the product you're interested in before purchasing.

Beware of Deceptive Product Descriptions

Product descriptions and images may not truthfully represent the merchandise being sold. This makes it very important to read customer reviews and ratings.

Look at Shipping Information

Shipping info on an item can tell you the shipping cost as well as give you a general timeframe of when your purchase will arrive. You can also look at reviews and see if any buyers mention any long wait times with a vendor.

Use Common Sense

There are some great deals on the service, but you do have to lower your expectations at times. If a deal looks to good to be true, it probably is. There is a good chance that the 70-inch 4K TV you saw on sale for $20 is a scam of some sort. If something looks to good to be true, it probably is. When it comes to Wish, you get what you pay for.

Know the Best Merchandise to Buy

The reality is that the site may not be the best place to buy designer clothes or high-end electronics. However, Wish is a great place to find small gadgets and casual clothes. The platform is great for finding items that are practical or eccentric. Check out this review of the site to see some recommended items to buy.

Wish is best used to pick up cheap knick-knacks rather than high-end items.

Wish is best used to pick up cheap knick-knacks rather than high-end items.

  • Watches: While you may not be able to get a fancy Rolex on the platform, you can get a cheap watch that can simply tell you the time. Wish can help you if you are not looking for a fancy watch and just want something basic and practical with only a little flair.
  • Children's clothes: You may have an easier time getting clothes that fit your child than clothes for yourself. Wish can help you get some simple apparel for your kid. Your child will grow out of their clothes quickly, so growing out of a cheaper wardrobe could be beneficial to your savings in the long run.
  • USB cables: You can find bargain prices on things like cables to charge your phone. You can buy in bulk if you frequently lose cables.
  • Home decor: Unique and inexpensive decorations for your home can be found on Wish. You can find eclectic items that can light up a room.

Alternatives

There are a number of e-commerce platforms out there that are similar to Wish. They can offer some great deals on particular items.

Here are some other apps that help you save money, with some important caveats.

  • Zulily: This company caters to mothers who are looking for unique products for their children. This service focuses on clothes, toys, and kitchenware. This company actually holds some merchandise in warehouses, so you can expect shorter shipping times. Keep in mind that a good portion of the merchants on Zulily come from overseas.
  • Overstock: This company, which has been around since 1999, focuses on selling surplus merchandise. They also offer their own products, which is usually bedding, furniture, and home decor. Overstock sells items directly themselves, which means you'll get your order faster. It also means there is less of a chance of getting defective merchandise.
  • AliExpress: This is one of the biggest e-commerce sites in the world. This Chinese platform allows businesses or individual merchants to sell directly to consumers. Since the items are coming from China, there will be a long waiting time for delivery. However, the prices here will be tough to beat. You can take a look at this article for tips on getting deals on the site.
  • LightInTheBox: This Chinese company offers low prices on apparel, small gadgets, and household items. This company doesn't offer the biggest selection of merchandise, but they can offer expedited delivery. You can even pay for purchases with PayPal.
  • ROMWE - This site offers trendy women's fashion at super low prices. Shipping can take a bit longer and you have to know which items to buy, but this can really fill out your basic and fun clothing.

These are great apps, but it pays to look through the reviews to see if they're right for you.

What About You?

Making Returns

If you do get an item that differs from the product you ordered, is it possible to return the item to Wish for a refund? Yes, returns are possible, but they are not very easy.

Wish does offer returns and refunds, but they may not refund the initial shipping cost (usually pretty low). You can expect to deal with a clunky customer service process.

How to Make a Return on the Wish App

Initiate a return to Wish through the app. You will message back and forth with customer service and they will send you a shipping label to return the item. Wish does not list a phone number, so it is hard to contact someone directly. There is also no obvious option to escalate the customer service concern to someone else if the rep is not satisfying your concerns.

My Terrible Experience Trying to Return an Item

In my experience, Wish is very good about issuing refunds, but the return process isn't friendly, as I unfortunately discovered first-hand. I bought a PAX 3 vaporizer as a Christmas present, hoping to get a deal. But the product that arrived was a clear knock-off, so I initiated a return. I was allowed 60 days to return the item. However, the customer service rep stalled and ignored me for long enough that the 60 days expired. I had no option other than to say goodbye to that $85.

With the low cost of items on Wish, it seems like they make the return process difficult so that most people will choose to eat the cost of a $3 item instead of fighting customer service.

What About You?

Buying Wish Items for Resale

Since Wish is essentially a distributor, you could make a good profit by buying cheap items and then reselling them. This is usually done through a drop shipping website. Another online option is using an eBay store.

If you use Wish as a source for reselling, you'll have better results if you add some accurate photos and details about the item. This adds trustworthiness, which can increase the chances of selling.

Wish vs. eBay

The same cheap, fast-fashion clothing items from China can also be found on eBay. So what's the difference?

The eBay sellers with similar items usually have slightly higher prices so they can still make a profit after paying eBay's fees.

But a transaction on eBay is easier to dispute if you run into problems as a buyer. The item descriptions tend to have more information, letting you get a better idea before you purchase them. Seller ratings, photos, and descriptions all give a better idea of what kind of item you are getting.

Michael Hampton on August 26, 2020:

I attempted to make a small purchase on Wish.com. I never received a confirmation email on account creation or order creation. When I attempted to log in, it failed. I did however see the charge appear on my credit card. Using their 'contact' link results in automated responses that ask you wait for up to three weeks for a refund. Three weeks later, no refund has been provided, and I still get automated responses to my attempts to contact them. Luckily, the purchase was not too large, but learn from my mistake - do NOT attempt to purchase anything on this site; you are literally giving away your money.

Suss2020 on August 10, 2020:

'legit as Amazon and eBay'? Not true.

The first and only time I ordered sandals I received something similar to shoes made of cheap plastic and shapeless. I can swear I couldn't even take them to a charity shop because I was certain no one would want them.

Now hundreds of pounds has been taken out of my bank account - no order place - and they are not cooperating. Not an experience I have ever gone through with eBay

Suss2020 on August 10, 2020:

Any company without effective customer service and no physical address or phone number is a risk to your money and mental wellbeing.

Wish.com has taken over £500.00 from my bank account. The last and only time I ordered from them - less than £10 order - was Dec 2019 with the same bank details and I haven't lost my card nor has anyone had access to it.

My bank alerted me that they had managed to stop two suspicious transactions. With their advise, I also noted three orders placed to wish.com using my debit card details. I contacted wish.com to explain that these orders placed within minutes were placed fraudulently. Despite explaining and forwarding the information from my bank, even explaining the seriousness of the fraud, they have refused to cancel the orders. Wish.com takes ages to deliver and I alerted them a day after the orders were placed to avoid any losses.

The exchange of many emails were annoying as they were robotic: "Could you please send us the order number". No, because I have told you severally I cannot have it....I didn't order. Unless I was collaborating with the fraudster how can any customer produce the fraudster's email address. This went on and on.

There is no doubt that most of these companies give their "customer" staff notes on how to respond to only particular questions giving them a robotic performance and unable to offer answers not provided. To justify losses? Leaves a lot to be desired.

I have received a refund from my bank and they will be following wish.com for the loss. This is the last email I received from wish.com, very annoying but it also proves their reluctance to take customer complaints seriously. It also made me suspicious and I explained to the fraud department that it could be an inside job. Do they complicate the order cancellation process to justify such a delivery to someone they know clearly is a fraudster? Most companies would appreciate being alerted and stop the delivery. It makes one wonder whether after being charged by the bank they'll go back to their insurance company to recover the money.

Thanks for writing in.

Sorry to hear that there's something wrong with your order. At this time, any return or refund requests can only be placed within Wish and cannot be supported through email:

I ordered something from vancouver, which I was told by the wish platform that the item was sitting in a local warehouse and I'd be getting it pretty quick. only after 3 weeks I had to learn that I'd to wait another 2 and a half months to get the item. at that time I wont even be in town. I wanted to cancel, it is impossible to even write to them, you have to do a good hour work to just figure out how to make such request. it has been 10 days after sending the cancelation request and not a word from them.

I know the item will arrive and it is not a scam, but one should never rely on the initial time frame they provide as it is nothing but a lie.

if you have all the time in the world to wait months for an item go right ahead and place your order.

Sherry Gullatte on August 04, 2020:

I'm pissed about Wish and Chinese folk who rip people off knowing damn well they can't produce the items they present. I bought was suppose to be human hair wig frontal lace. Baby I got some plastic shiny barbie doll hair that had a white frontal scalp about 1 in hair was sewn wrong and some were not. The wig cap was horrific! Brushing the hair, it came out by strands. These MF's need to be slapped to sleep. NEVER again. I complained they sent a refund of $4.38 after I spent a cheap $70 on the wig. To say the company is legit is a freaking joke! It took forever to get a refund that was nothing.$4.38 from $70 really? These MF's then sent the cheap ass fake shiny barbie doll hair wig anyway after some time. I got $4.38 and a shiny barbie doll synthetic wig. They advertised a very nice wig and I didn't get that. I am evil with these bastards! Folk stating they legit! Wish is a fucking scam I'm pissed that they can get away with it. I'm done with fake ass Chinese folk who scam people all over the world. All of these fake ass companies are scams and nothing can be done. Never again will I patronize businesses that scam take your money send you some bull shit! Fuck Wish! Now Wish on that bitches!!

CharlesDickens11111 on July 26, 2020:

To answer someone's question, yes Geek/Wish sells fake items and it's impossible to return them. They may sell legitimate items also, but unsure. In my case, I ordered a transceiver and antenna and stumbled upon an article by those manufacturers about fake products and, from what their website showed, both items were fake. After analyzing the products, they were terribly out of spec and in fact, caused the user to be committing an illegal act. I contacted them, but fine print, they writing let them be returned. Then, after doing a password reset, for a message in Russian. I'll never purchase from them again

Diana Grant from United Kingdom on July 23, 2020:

Thanks for your very enlightening and interesting article.

I ordered two extra-large size tops and some shoes from Wish in October 2019. They arrived in UK a month later, which I felt was not unreasonable. However the tops were ridiculously unsuitable, being about 4 sizes too small, and the shoes too narrow. One blouse was see-through, though not obvious from the photo. The T-shirt was very flimsy material.

I complained, sending photos and measurements (quite a hassle) and requested and received a refund for all of them. They said I need not return the goods and could keep them. I decided to give the items to charity as I got them free. The whole process ended satisfactorily before the end of November.

Needless to say, I still get adverts from them, due to cookies, but would be hesitant to buy anything more because their sizing is so misleading. The products themselves were not top quality, but very acceptable and pretty.

TakeMyMoney on July 09, 2020:

Too many sights like WISH that are basically a portal for 'businesses'.

Although WISH itself may not be a scam, businesses using WISH I am certain are.

Ordered 6 specialty light bulbs that I was unaware were coming from CHINA.

I am certain they originally showed a month for shipping.

After a month, it had delivery date changed to 2 months!!

After 2 months still no light bulbs!

Contacted WISH and I got my shipping charges back, but need to wait ANOTHER month for a refund.

HOW MANY OTHERS ARE IN THE SAME BOAT??

Some company is getting rich by holding on to customers money for 4 months before giving a refund!!

Think about it, what a business model.......

Say you get $1M in orders a day....

And you don't have to refund any money for 90 days....

$90M in the bank collecting interest for doing NOTHING!!

Just make sure you refund the 'customers' money on a timely basis.

People have gone to jail for doing shi......stuff like this.

Likanyang from LaGrange on June 24, 2020:

What was I expecting?? It is a CHINESE WEBSITE. You are never going to receive those items. I ordered some items on 5/12. At first time, expected delivery date was 6/2. But it moved to the middle of June and moved again to the end of June and it moved again to the middle of July. I ordered almost 10 items and I never even got one single item. You will definitely regret you didn't choose other websites like Amazon or eBay.

On wish there's a stilleto knife for sale, AKA a switch blade, there was a good review from a guy in England, firstly and most important switch blades are totally illigal in England and imported items are all x-rayed and the customs seeing that in an x-ray it would have been seized examined and if it was a switch blade it would have been destroyed with a note going to the buyer explaing what happens and the legalities of attempting to bring an illigal weapon into the country and the concequencys of what will happen if he attempts it again, plus the guy was called Jon, 99% of people in England would never spell Jon that way witch it not impossible but very suspicious

Wish.com doesn't deliver, waste my time, and negatively affects my liability to get to work as a healthcare worker. I paid for my purchase on May 11th and the "delivery date" is a continuous moving target.

Here's Wish.com's response, we promise to refund you but we won't actually do so. Oh, and your new arrival date is August 1st 2020. Oh, no wait, your new arrival date is October 1st 2020. Oh, no wait, your new new arrival date is December 31st 2020.

Bots are their "customer support". FAIL.

ARPatterson on June 14, 2020:

Easily the worst online shopping experience ever. Good luck reaching a human being if you have questions; the Customer Support AI is about as helpful as a kindergartener explaining rocket science. Close reading of theirvrrfund policy essentially informs you that you won't be getting your money back. The closest one might expect is getting a refund on shipping: the returned items can be exchanged for "Wish Dollars". I am still waiting on an item ordered in March with an orginal delivery time of 3-5 weeks. Now, depending on the day of the week amd the price of tea in China (pun intended), my expected timeline according to my account on the app to receive items originally intended for a home interior design project and now no longer needed ranges from May 18 - August 1. This isn't about China versus America or differences in eastern and western philosophies, this company has SCAM ARTIST written all over it.

Railroads53 on June 05, 2020:

Be careful with wish.com. I ordered a 10 inch tablet in February 2020 it was supposed to be here in March 2020, it did not show up.

They told me that if it wasn't delivered by April 27 to contact them, it did not so I emailed them again.

They refunded me the shipping and said if it was not here by May 27 contact them again and I did because it never showed up. Now they tell me to login and go through the procedures for a refund.

However the website doesn't recognize my email address or my password. So I changed my password and it was excepted by the site but now it doesn't recognize me as a customer.

They have the tracking number, they know it hasn't been delivered and it has been five months!

They're putting the burden of proof on me for a refund on an item I never got and they know I didn't get it.

I don't care if it's FREE including free shipping - I will never order anything from them again because of the runaround they've been giving me.

Play it safe, keep your money. No matter how good the deal sounds chances are you're not going to get the product you ordered from wish.com.

mark dorman on May 31, 2020:

I have ordered over 50 items from Wish since starting to use the app around the end of March and almost all of them have had some sort of an issue. It is impossible to find out where your item is due to tracking numbers that don't seem to exsist. Personally I think their system of notifying the customer of where their purchase is is nothing more than smoke and mirrors and I will tell you 2 reasons. First off I have had numerous items that supposedly traveled from China to the U.S. and cleared our customs in just a week or a week and a half but now it has been 2 months since leaving our customs and still have not seen it. Excuse me but I could literally walk it from Cali to my house in 2 months what am I suppose to believe that there is some giant bin the USPS has that they just put orders from wish in cause they want to age our purchases? I call BS on six days from China but over 2 months to my house. Second I have had 2 orders that at one point Wish said the item was at our customs but then a few days later it was back in China. Then when I decided to take a picture of it the part that said it was at our customs magically was erased from my tracking info. I have had nothing but broken parts or ones that were missing parts or not what I ordered or not what was pictured. I can understand a problem here or there but Wish has taken this crap to a whole new level. If you want to do whats best you will avoid Wish at all costs. I would have rather paid double or triple for my purchases then deal with Wish and their robotic customer service. Honestly I don't understand how they r still in business. Once again DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM WISH and do yourself a favor and pay more on a different site it will be money well spentCan someone tell me what kind of shipping service they use cause 3 month travel time seems pretty extreme fir this day and age of OVERNIGHT shipping? They must hire homeless people to swim it across the pacific and then they must have reopened the pony express but minus the ponies to get it the rest of the way.

I was buying small things from Wish, and they were just about what anyone should expect for the price. Problem accrued when i was about to buy a goddamn hair clipper. I ordered item, payment went trough and then after two weeks of keeping my money while item was "processed", they told me it's out of stock. That would be ok if they wouldn't offer exactly the same item all over Wish at the time they told me it's out of stock. I tried to communicate with support but I had a feeling they don't speak English at all (or just don't give a s...t what a customer tries to say). I gave up, canceled and refunded my order and found the same item on app again. Placed the order, payment went trough and then the same scenario again... Out of stock, and still you can find that item for sale all over Wish. Those people are just unprofessional and not even slightly interested to give you any explanations if comes to that. They just want to quickly get yor money on something they sell and in case of any questions, refunds or complaints, they just don't care. I think that I'm done with them and other similar platforms, just no need for getting irritated by someone who never heard about customer care or fair trade. They just don't play by the rules, and you are alone against huge platform that doesn't care about you. So, ditch them, there are plenty of platforms that will take your money and take care of you as a customer. Fair and square.

But on May 24th I sent a message that the product hadn't arrived, and the robot told me to send them another query between May 25th to June 9th. They then changed the delivery date from May 25 to June 9, an extra 15 days! My son is very angry now. I hope it arrives on or before June 9th. They have a tracking number, and it supposedly left the China Transit Hub on April 23, and was on it's way to my destination. I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully the video card works, and I won't have to mess with returning it.

I have purchased several products over last couple of years and have not had any major problems. The one problem I did have was immediatly taken care of with a wish credit that I used on another product. In my case they refunded me more that the cost of shipping for a free product. I have purchased products from wish and the exact same product from Amazon at 3 times the cost. A lot of the people that sell products on Amazon first buy their products from wish or other discount company's then hike up the price many fold. It pays to do your research. Some sellers on wish charge more for shipping but less for the product. Start off small and slowly buy larger products but I usually keep my purchasing to lighter and easier to ship products. You will usually get the product sooner. Bigger packages get banged around more and suffer more damage. Read read read all discriptions , shipping, refunds, etc. etc. I too would like a phone number for wish but have not found one even though they have a usa office.

I AM TELLING EVERYBODY NOT TO ORDER FROM THEM.WE PAY THE MONEY LIKE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO AND THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT GIVE YOU THE PRODUCT YOU ORDER. THEY SEND WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE. SORRY COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For three days I have gotten fake charges from someone using my credit card. (I had ordered from Wish last winter). I tried to cancel all the stuff the person ordered and I am advised that I only can get a credit for all those items to order more stuff from Wish!!! I want my credit card to be refunded but that wont happen. It happened again today. I have to pay all these charges on my credit card. The stuff is all being shipped to Algeria - and you would think that would trigger a question from Wish since my address is in Oklahoma. No one seems to want to help.

Christine Mukherjee on April 12, 2020:

I ordered a dress on Wish and paid US$29. This was in February 2020. I raised a query through Paypal and they never responded back. The query had to be closed as per Paypal rules. I feel very sad that I lost my money and that the Company chose not to look into my enquiry.

I hope this helps others from getting disappointed.

Do not order from this company for they are a complete ripoff. I ordered a dog training collar for $25 and it didn't come after a month and a half. When I talked to them they said item was delayed will you wait. I did. Another month and it's still not here. I again talk to customer service to get my money back. They tell me I'm past return policy time and if unhappy I should have returned. I said how can I be pass return policy when I haven't received item. They refused to go any further and said they have resolved my case. I am talking to my credit card company and filing fraud charges on them. A company that doesn't have a phone number that they answer to, is for a reason. It's to steal your money.

On March 6, I ordered two N95 masks from Wish through Amazon. On March 13, I received an e-mail from Wish that the items have shipped. When I tracked the order, I realized that the items are due to be delivered on April 22 and that they were currently in China. Wish did not state that items were out of stock at the time when I placed the order and paid. On March 17, I read an article on MarketWatch about on-line scammers selling masks that are paid upfront, but never show up. Upon learning that, I tried to cancel the order on Wish website, but was not able to do so because the items have shipped.

Thieving , unsavoury frauds

Wish had better refresh themselves With their policy's .

I made an order and realised that the dress was much more then it was listed on site once it was paid for . The order was for $260 with several items involved .

When I looked at the order after realising it was way more expensive then it should have been . I realised that on some items I was being charged $18 postage for one item ( with other items also coming from the same place but yet had its own postage .

Upon realising this was a robbery I tried to cancel my order . This was not even an hour after making the order .

I was told it had already been shipped ( not even a hour after purchasing ) yet there terms inform people they have 8 hours to request a refund , and I would have to send it back to them for a refund . Which meant over $100 bucks in postage .

Then when I received an email today , telling my my item had been shipped today . Which I was told it was shipped 2 days ago .

I noticed it had my late address on the paper work

When I made the order , I had updated my address . They just didn't bother to update it as they packed my things

So I won't even get them any way

In this day and age how does any business think it will get away with treating people with no respect or an or care factor of how their business is criminal

I can rest assure you Every government department and every offical will be informed of this fraudulent behaviour

It's actually thieving .. and a jailable offence

I won't be Letting you scam me

Cory on March 09, 2020:

Every electronic item I hav purchased has been a FAKE, Bose QC35 noise canceling headphones (Supposably refurbished) so i ordered them and when they came they did not have the switch for turning on and off the noise canceling feature and the button layout was incorrect. I took a picture of the product I received along with pictures of the real item and sent it to them, the next day they refunded me my money. I also bought "refurbished" Beats Tour3 wireless earbuds that were obviously fake. They were extremely cheap feeling and light and the sound quality was completely garbage. After trying to get a picture of the real product i found that Beats never made Tour3 ear buds so i contacted Wish and got a refund for those as well. Also while just browsing items to purchase I noticed that the sell complete knock off fake items they are trying to pass as the real item but the logos are slightly different like for Nike the swish has another slush at the end making it look very similar but different enough to not be the real thing. So with that in mind I know that most of the things for sell will be fake cheap China knock offs with the title and description mentioning features that are clearly lies but with that in mind I know the things for sell will be not as described so when I do buy something I make the determination of do I want to take the chance and buy a $300-$400 item for $30-$40. So with that 90% off I might order something and when it comes I make the determination if the quality is great enough to keep at that 90% off or if it is just way too cheap to keep. Just remember that 99% of the things for sell On Wish are completely fake but even with that in mind the quality vs what you paid for it might make it worth purchasing.

You normally cannot return items on/to Wish or their sister company Geek. If something is not right that you ordered and delivered to you, both are very nice and apologetic about it and offer you a refund in Wish or Geek cash, just like a store credit to buy something else, but they usually do not deal with the hassle of having you send the item back, so you are stuck with it. When that happens, you do get a full refund, but you keep the item you bought which you can just resell or give away.

Wish.com is the worst rat-bag organization imaginable. They essentially have no customer service, and no monitoring of sellers' fulfillment of customer orders. Most items are much poorer quality than they look or completely different. Missing parts or not working/stop working not uncommon. Advertised prices change higher once you click on them. I've had prices change, of course higher in cart before check out! Customer support is quick but useless. 2 items prices went up before I checked out and I didn't realized until after they shipped. I decided not to make an issue out of one, it arrived today. I figured I should not have opened it. I contacted support regarding the other one to see if I could refuse it or return to sender. He apologized for the inconvenience, checked my order and verified the price went up before I checked out. He forwarded a link on how to cancel orders, which needs to be done within 8hrs. I let him know clearly that was not helpful. I was told I should check the prices before checkout to verify they haven't changed. If I learn after checkout, I'd have 8hrs to cancel. Free of charge! How kind. It's absurd! I've dealt with the other issues, I've been refunded for some crap that's nothing like advertised but this was the last straw today. I'm done with Wish. I used a couple years ago and received junk. I gave a gift that was missing a electric cord :/ This time they had something I've been searching for. It popped up on Wish after a google search. I ended up buying many items over the past month, see issues above. I still have orders yet to arrive :/ I wish I could cancel all. Very sketchy "business" I'm concerned they have my credit card info now. My only hope is the item will arrive nothing like advertised and I can fight to get my money back. The "nothing like described" is likely!

I used to use the site years ago until I got 50% of what I bought, because they used so many different addresses to ship stuff I paid for, everywhere in the country! I decided to try it again. They were supposedly having flash sales on different products, and I ordered over 75 different products in one night. The next day, I got a message about each item, stating that my order "could not be processed on time", and wanted to know if I wanted "wish cash" or for the money of each item returned to my account. Well, I have spent hours trying to go to each item to get cash back into my bank account, but, there is no way to go to each item, because once I am done requesting money back for one, it will not go back to where I was on the list of items I ordered. It is a complete scam! Looking the site up, they do have a 800 number, but, when you call, it actually states that they have no humans to talk to!!!!! Stay as far away from the site as possible!!!! You will not get what you ordered, or the cash back. Please pass this on to others so they do not get scammed like millions of other people!!!!

I have ordered maybe 50 times from wish and for well over 20000 USD, most of the time good products have arrived (you have to browse and compare different sellers and prices before buying), sometimes packages have not arrived (probably ordered over 200 packages) and it might be around 30 of them that I did not receive, but I have always been refunded as long as I report missing delivery within their "support window". Packages arrive within 3 to 8 weeks. The types of items ordered is home decoration, clothes, shoes, tools, a big party tents, some electronics, and personal defense items. I really recommend Wish and I have saved a ton of money.

Every order that I placed for delivery to my home address was fine & arrived on time. However, on a few larger orders I wanted to save on shipping so I had the items sent to a local store just 2 miles away.

I checked with the store for weeks and nothing then late last night

everything showed up with a QR Codes and said that the items were available for pick up. I went to the store early this morning and all the items on my phone from the order still said available for pick up...I enter the store...Game & Video on Vermont in Los Angles - the clerk grabs her Ipad, scans each QR CODE but each code as she scans them is showing that the items have already been delivered...all except one which she hands over to me. She then advises me to follow up with WISH. The funny part is that the items on the app now show "delivered" instead "available for pick up" and this only took place after the QR Code Scans happened. Somethings fishy. ...something doesn't add up. Now I've got to go through the process for getting a refund. For anyone reading ...pay the extra and have the items sent to your house. Do not try to save 3-5 dollars by having your items sent to a local store.

Diana Montgomery from New York State on January 25, 2020:

There are many scams on Wish but there are many scams online. Some Wish sellers are honest. They tell you the correct descriptions, etc. but some are dishonest. You have to realize that if the price is too good to be true, it probably isn't true. I shop online frequently and I have seen the "bait and switch" at Wish, Ebay, Amazon and Etsy. They all state one price, then when you try to buy, the price is much more. I just don't buy when this happens. In fact, last night on Ebay, I encountered this. I contacted the seller and told him/her that I would not buy because of this. You have to make sure that the seller is reputable by reading reviews, contacting the seller and getting things in writing, only buy low priced items when they can't be misdescribed. For instance, all jewelry on Wish is costume even though they state diamonds, 14K gold, etc. You can't buy any good jewelry from Wish. So, if a seller doesn't state that it is chrome over base metal or cubic zirconia, they are lieing period. I've never had a problem contacting Wish but their answers are never helpful. They say that each size and color of shoe or dress, whatever is sold by a different seller. So, they can't help with the prices. And I would believe that all electronics are knockoffs.
